Postcards..not from Paradise.. but from Winter Magic

yesterday - Joe & I went to the Winter Magic Festival in Katoomba. a yearly gathering of people celebrating winter solstice in a way that only people in Katoomba can do! first of all we enjoyed breakfast at our favourite cafe - The Hattery.. Italian style scrambled eggs with sauted mushrooms and a Chai Latte to drink..I had ribbons tied in my hair and wore patchouli oil. Crystals around my neck and off I went..

shop windows are decorated - in all manner of styles

a day of music & busking...

colour & art

some wore hats. some wore masks. some wore wings....

others just followed their passion..

people had their say..peacefully.

taking part in the parade....

in the spirit of what makes this place so special. Katoomba is a power spot for me. I come alive when I am there. the air is crisp and clear.

a day just for the people

and little people

sometimes, it was just good to rest and watch the world go by..

and of course - Lord & Lady Winter made an appearance - as they do each year..

Hi Robyn,
This is so not fair. I would love to go to this type of festival. Living in the south, especially the Bible Belt, people wouldn't let this sort of festival take place. It looks too Pagan, God forbid! ~ hope you had a wonderful time!

how you tie my heart to our world, spinning so fiercely with love for us all. the sun closer now to this side of the equator ...we are tending our seeds as they burst towards the light.

and you dear friend, wrapped in crisp overtures of almost winter!!!!

i love how close you bring the world in....always open armed, and passionately grateful for each new day.

Who could not be joyful in such a place, surrounded by such people?

I can say with all sincerity that I wished I had been there in this wonderful place with all these people. As we usher in summer you are ushering winter. That's what makes the world go 'round.

This is simply amazing. It reminds me of our summer solstice parade which is coming up next week. So colorful and festive! Your images are glorious. What fun and variety. Such gaiety and joy in the welcoming of this season. I am so glad that you had such a great time. I had to check when winter started and ended there. It is so odd since we are just beginning summer here.
Thanks for sharing these,
Noelle

This looks so wonderful!! Even though we have serious winter, there is nothing ever done to celebrate it. There should be!!

Sending you Solstice greetings Robyn.
It looks like there's a lot of fun and creative people around to celebrate this season. Also wishing you quiet and sacred joys like the doll that Daisy made to remind you.
